We are Certified!

Wings Rescue Center is now fully certified and permitted by both the state and federal governments and we are open for business. The "bird hospital" is open and functioning with several patients in residence. We have an onsite caretaker who is working with our volunteers to tend to the birds every day.

We are grateful to Amanda Terry and Dr. Tim Tristan with Texas Sealife Center for their support and assistance. By allowing us to operate under their permits, we were able to begin rescuing immediately in April 2016. This helped us to raise the funds needed to buy land and build our center. We could not have done it without them and will continue to work with them. Few rehabilitation centers get up and running in 18 months and we know we are fortunate to have had so much help.

Wings received help from many community businesses and volunteers, including Little Bay Plumbing, Tommy Moore and Whooping Crane Tours, Al Johnson Construction, J’s Coastal Services LLC, B&R Electric, Jose Cruz, Sue Bonnar, and Aransas County. Help included in-kind donations of materials, as well as reduced cost or volunteer labor.

We also appreciate the many organizations and people who have
provided funds. Thanks to Castaways, the Trull Foundation, and Aransas County Navigational District, among others for grants, contracts, and gifts.

We also appreciate our business members, Little Bay Plumbing, AireServ of the Coastal Bend, Brown Water Marine Services, and New Sound Hearing Center (Rockport).
